The Riding of Bodmin Moor
First farmed over 4000 years ago by Bronze Age settlers, Bodmin Moor is one of the last great unspoilt areas in the South West, with much of it’s prehistoric and medieval past remaining untouched by the passing centuries. Riding Bodmin Moor can be exciting yet daunting and when first entering the moor you are hit by its great expanse and freedom.
Riding the dramatic granite tors on a clear day, you will get a spectacular view of Cornwall from coasts to hills. It’s a beautiful display of green pastures, rugged coastline and the unrivalled fauna and flora of the Moors. In the distance on the Atlantic Ocean, large Cargo vessels can be seen passing along the North Cornwall Coast.
Riding between the tors and across the open commons, passing old settlements and stone circles, you get a sense of space and tranquillity. You experience peace and quiet which is only broken by bird song or the occasional call of an animal grazing the moors.
Riding through the woodland areas of the Moor, you experience both an eerie feeling and intrigue as to what riding awaits you on the other side. A gentle valley to wander, a stream to cross, a rocky tor to climb or an open common to experience the excitement and freedom of a gallop through this thrilling and mysterious countryside.
Riding Bodmin Moor, the breathtaking land of Tales & Legends, is a truly exhilarating experience, which can only be described as some of the best horse riding in the UK and Europe.
We look forward to hearing from you soon and to sharing this unique riding experience with you.
